Our teaching staff comes from United Kingdom, United States and Hong Kong. We strive for providing a blend of vocational and academic to our students from day one. 

#001 Music Technology & AI for Media Arts (Level 1)

Who this course is for:

Students starting to learn basic music technology including DAW, song-writing, music arrangement and production.

 

This course includes:

  • 10 Zoom lessons (1.5 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per week, held by our lecturer and assisted by tutor)

  • 2 Zoom lessons about AI application by our remarkable guest speakers (1.5 hours per lesson)

#003 ABRSM Music Theory (Grade 6-8)

Who this course is for:

Candidates preparing for the ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory Examination.

 

Aims of this course:

This Grade 6-8 Music Theory course covers the topics set out on the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) syllabus.

 

This course includes:

  • 36 one-hour Zoom lessons (2 lessons per week) with prepared teaching materials

  • 5 extra Zoom lessons (1 hour per lesson, 1 lesson per week) for revision and marking of Grade 8 past papers

  • Marking students' homework in the classes

#005 Song-writing & Music Arrangement (Level 1)

Who this course is for:

Students starting to learn song-writing and music arrangement for different combinations of instruments.

 

Aims of this course:

Song-writing and Music arrangement are the art of organising and adapting a piece of music. It involves making decisions about how different musical elements such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and instrumentation are structured, orchestrated, and presented within a song. This course assists students to acquire such skills with different software-based guidance.

 

This course includes:

  • 10 Zoom lessons (1.5 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per week)

  • Zoom lessons with prepared teaching materials

  • Feedback on student homework in the class

#012 Live Sound Reinforcement

Who this course is for:

Students who have basic music knowledge and have interest in live sound mixing/ recording. 

 

Aims of this course:

The course is designed to cultivate students’ comprehensive understanding of live audio systems, stage acoustics, and professional sound operation techniques. Students will learn how to plan, set up, and manage live sound systems for performances, including microphone techniques, signal flow, mixing console operation, and monitor systems. Through theoretical study and practical exercises, students will develop the skills necessary to deliver high-quality live sound production and handle diverse acoustic environments with confidence and professionalism.

 

This course includes:

  • 10 Zoom lessons (1.5 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per week)

  • Zoom lessons with prepared teaching materials

  • Frequency test

  • Ear training

 

This course starting in March, 2026 (TBC)

#002 ABRSM Music Theory (Grade 1-5)

Who this course is for:

Candidates preparing for the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory Examination.

 

Aims of this course:

This Grade 1-5 Music Theory course covers the topics set out on the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) syllabus.

 

This course includes:

  • 24 hours Zoom lessons (1.5 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per week) with prepared teaching materials

  • 4 extra Zoom lessons (1 hour per lesson, 1 lesson per week) for revision and marking of Grade 5 past papers

  • Marking students’ homework in the classes

#004 Contemporary Music Composition (Beginner)

Who this course is for:

Students starting to learn Western contemporary music and compose for different combinations of instruments.

 

Aims of this course:

This course provides students with an opportunity to acquire various writing techniques in composition as applied in the repertoire from the Baroque to the present time. It helps students to equip contemporary techniques essential for the composition of various musical creativities in the 21st century idioms. The lessons give students to have a step-by-step and hands-on learning strategy to experience the art of contemporary music.

 

This course includes:

  • 12 Zoom lessons (1.5 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per week)

  • Zoom lessons with prepared teaching materials

  • Feedback on student homework in the class

#006 Writing Music for Film and Games

Who this course is for:

Students starting to learn music scoring for film and other visual medias such as video game and documentary film.

 

Aims of this course:

The lessons give students to have a step-by-step and hands-on learning strategy to experience the art of music scoring.

 

This course includes:

  • 8 Zoom lessons (2 hours per lesson, 1 lesson per week)

  • Zoom lessons with prepared teaching materials

  • Feedback on student homework in the class

About the team

Dr. Anthony Cheng.jpg

Dr Anthony Cheng (Program Director)

Dr Cheng is a renowned cross-genre composer based in United Kingdom. He sets his music career in multi-talented way: as a songwriter, contemporary and film music composer, sound engineer and producer in various music productions and concerts. Dr Cheng has been teaching in Hong Kong and overseas universities and colleges as a part-time music lecturer for more than 20 years. These institutions include Kingston University London, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong and Good Hope School. Recently, Cheng has been invited as the visiting lecturer at Cardiff University, Wales and recording producer at King’s College London in 2023. He attained extraordinarily strong academic background and potential for effective teaching in various music subjects such as music theory, music composition and music technology. Moreover, he has started a series of music courses as a program director of Multimedia Design Academy, HKMMDA and developed further online Teaching and Learning System since 2020. He has taught more than 150 private students taking various courses since then.

Dr Cheng completed his master's degree in music (M.Mus.) at King's College London and Ph.D. at The University of Hong Kong. He is the recipient of the 28th RTHK Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award, and the Best Serious Composition of CASH Golden Sail Music Awards in 2015 and 2018.​ Dr Cheng has published over 70 pieces of original contemporary music and multimedia works, 100 pop songs and more than 100 commercial music production for TVC, feature films and theatrical works, much of his music is public performed and released on CDs, DVDs and digital medias such as Apple Music, Spotify, Netflix, Disney+, etc.
